KINTO was established in 1972 by Hideo Koide, who were originally a wholesaler of porcelain and ceramic tableware in Shiga, Japan. After being a wholesaler for some years, they decided to make their own line of products and in doing so developed the perfect balance between usability and aesthetics in their unique coffeeware, teaware and tableware. To this day they remain a family owned business, with the sons of Hideo Koide proudly continuing the legacy of Hideo.
Their goal is create products that bring both comfort and inspiration into the day to day of life. The want to encourage slowing down and enjoying the beauty of nature. Their products are made with genuine creativity and thoughtfulness with this mindset at the forefront.
