Jody Martin | Sake Cup | Black & White

Jody Martin has been working with clay and ceramics for many years initially with handbuilding but in recent years she has focussed on her throwing skills using her Bernard Leach kick-wheel. Her current work is influenced by the aesthetics of Japanese and Korean ceramics – refined but full of character. The human touch is evident with thumb and finger imprints and hand carved bases. This makes them tactile and comfortable. The glaze used is a matte black with wax-resist brushmarks to allow the raw white ceramic to shine through.
